Zeppe-Lin is a GNU/Linux distribution for x86-64 systems, forked from CRUX and forged in the spirit of KISS — Keep It Simple, Stupid.
It emphasizes clarity, minimalism, and direct control of the computing environment.
Current Release
Zeppe-Lin v1.2 (“Ghosts in the Rig”)
Released January 9, 2026
Includes post-release maintenance updates (v1.2.1).
This is a structural maintenance release focused on logging, cron execution, and ABI alignment.
Highlights:
- OpenSSL 3.5.4 ABI bump
- Logging standardized with
logrotate - Cron execution unified under
run-parts;run-oneintroduced for simpler job control - Tooling manual pages migrated to scdoc and improved
- Website redesign at <zeppe-lin.org>
- Kernel updated from 6.16 series to 6.18
